Burçin Temel McKenna joins Ramboll’s Carbon Capture Competence Centre as new Head of Department
Carbon capture is considered as one of the necessary components in the journey towards decarbonisation and net zero emissions worldwide.
For the last several years, Ramboll has been taking part in the development of Carbon Capture, Utilisation & Storage (CCUS) solutions, but the market was immature, and technologies have been expensive. This picture has been changing recently and it is essential that we allocate resources and knowledge to the field of carbon capture in order to successfully support our clients in developing carbon capture solutions to the commercial stage.
With Burçin as the new Head of Department for our Carbon Capture Competence Centre we are progressing on our strategic ambition within the green energy transition. She brings extensive industrial experience with her past R&D leadership roles in sectors such as chemicals, mining and cement from Topsoe and FLSmidth where these sectors are characterized as hard-to-abate and in need of carbon capture.
“Burçin is a truly international profile with 21 years of technical hands-on experience in the fields of energy, alternative fuels, base chemicals, mining and cement processes. She will be an important asset in supporting Ramboll’s increasing focus on CCUS, and we look forward to her helping our clients with their decarbonisation aspirations”, says Nils Christian Holm, Global Director of Energy from Waste & Carbon Capture.
“Carbon capture is an important and necessary element of the current green energy transition worldwide. In order to reach a net zero society, a greater focus on large emitters such as waste-to-energy facilities, power plants, cement factories, mining companies and chemical industry is required. I look forward to working alongside my new team and colleagues and move the needle in CCUS”, says Burçin Temel McKenna.
