This time around we meet René Søegaard who has joined our legal consulting team working with contract and commercial management based in Copenhagen.

What do you work with?
The aim for us is to strengthen our position as a contract management service provider with a particular focus on larger CAPEX projects. Our role will be to provide consulting services to our clients but also to develop and expand the business area.
What made you want to join Ramboll Management Consulting?
Ramboll is a well-recognised company with a strong market position, and this - combined with the ambition to further develop the area of contract management - was an intriguing opportunity matching my ambition to move into management consulting.

What is the most significant professional experience you have had so far?
I cannot just point out one, so I would rather say it is where I have been able to transform organisations and bring them to a better place. The joy of seeing people and whole organisations go through a transformation process and come out the other side with a positive outcome of personal and organisational achievement is what stands out in my mind. I have been lucky enough to experience this kind of achievement several times, and it just doesn’t get old.
What is the most exciting development within your field of work?
Contract and Commercial Management is a relatively new and specialised organisational discipline, which has only received independent academic focus within the past few years. This is part of what makes it exciting. It is not that organisations are doing anything different, but we are representing a new and value-adding perspective to inter-organisational business, with emphasis on how contracts are managed and add value to the business.
How are you planning on bringing this to our clients?
We already have an established CCM department offering consulting services within the field of contract and commercial management, so you could say we are now expanding our service offering. I believe our clients will benefit directly from my experience from highly complex project organisations, where contract management is of critical importance. In addition, I believe my extensive experience in business transformation will offer a benefit to clients when they embark on a journey to put contract and commercial management on their agenda.
How do you define the higher purpose of what you do?
This may sound fluffy, but at the end of the day we enable companies to work together across disciplines. And this can be very hard despite the good intensions.
What (or who) is your best source of inspiration?
Hmm, difficult to answer. Probably several people depending on the situation. One person that always comes to mind for me is Steve Jobs. In many terms he was certainly not inspirational but his visionary abilities and his relentless pursuit for perfection lives on even today.

Joining from Ørsted Wind Power A/S (former DONG Energy) serving as Head of Contract Management for offshore structures.
