Michael B. Kaniuga is a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) and Certified Safety Professional (CSP) with more than 20 years of experience related to the built environment. Michael has provided expert opinions on a number of large and complex matters related to moisture intrusion, moisture and biologically (mold and bacteria) impacted building materials, and indoor air quality (IAQ). He has conducted comprehensive investigations, provided recommendations and opinions, and managed projects for a wide spectrum of clients.
Michael specializes in forensic investigations related to IAQ and built environments. He has collected, analyzed, interpreted, organized, and evaluated the scientific data necessary to provide expert opinions related to identifying problem causation, defining remediation protocols, and post-remediation verification. His work also has included the collection of evidence, critical reviews of applicable standard operating procedures, application of the recognized hierarchy of controls, industry consensus standards, and government regulations. He currently serves on and is an active member of ASTMs D22 Committee for IAQ. He has also been designated as the technical contact for a number of ASTM standards.
