Environment & Health

One of the world’s leading environmental and health consultancies, we are trusted by clients to manage their most challenging environmental, health and social issues. We help clients understand and manage the impacts of their activities and products, so that they can respond to business, regulatory or legal challenges effectively and develop sound strategies for operating sustainably.

Through years of experience in the region, our environmental consultants and health scientists have gained valuable insights into the environmental and occupational health and safety issues addressed by local and regional regulatory programs, enabling them to develop appropriate and effective environmental management and engineering solutions.

While the full range of Environment & Health services is available to clients, we have local expertise in areas of particular interest to our client base in the region:

Water, climate adaptation & landscape architecture

Ramboll’s experts within water, climate adaptation and landscape architecture assist clients in creating innovative, sustainable and liveable solutions. Our team in China covers all areas in the water cycle, and we provide specialist expertise within the fields of climate adaptation & landscape architecture and water & wastewater treatment.

Represented by Ramboll Studio Dreiseitl in China, our climate adaptation & landscape team combines cutting-edge skills in master planning, landscape design, urban design, flooding calculation, urban hydrology, coastal resilience, river restoration and stormwater management. The team has helped clients shape some of China’s most iconic water, climate adaptation and landscape projects including the Tianjin Cultural Park and the Qianjiang George Park

Our water and wastewater treatment team support manufacturing and utility clients with process design, technology selection, equipment specification, tender appraisal, permitting, planning, construction management, start-up, and commissioning, and operations. Our technical services also provide for cost-effective and sustainable design and operation of water and wastewater treatment systems in the face of increasingly stringent external and internal performance expectations.

The water team in China is part of a global water division of more than 1,000 water consultants. This ensures quick and easy access to all kinds of water competence around the globe, and it gives us the ability to offer the full range of water services to our local client base:

Energy

Globally, there is a general push towards renewables, although conventional energy will continue to play a significant role in the energy mix in the coming years. As a consultancy, Ramboll is at the forefront of addressing the green transition and offers a holistic approach to energy that supports the sector on the journey towards more sustainable solutions. While the full array of Ramboll's Energy services is available from our China operations, clients in the region are principally interested in wind energy.

Ramboll global services

Tianjin Cultural Park

Tianjin Cultural Park

Tianjin is one of China’s top 5 cities, not just in size and population but also in terms of business investments. Located just half an hour south-east of Beijing by high-speed train, Tianjin is also close to the sea. The high-water table needs to be maintained to prevent seawater encroaching inland and the dry, harsh climate does not preclude flooding.

Offshore Windfarm

SPIC Binhai North H2 Offshore Wind Farm

Ramboll is the first non-Chinese company to design a 400 MW wind farm in China, which will be among the country’s largest.
