Sonja has more than 15 years of professional experience in environmental consulting focused on the interpretation, application and implementation of European environmental legislation. She is a key expert for environmental technologies and has conducted studies on the impacts of industrial processes, best available technologies, process optimisation and emission reduction (particularly VOC emissions). She supports companies in complying with legal requirements, particularly in the field of industrial emissions and occupational health and safety, including support for companies regarding Industrial Emissions Directive (IED) permits and the preparation of safety reports in accordance with the Seveso Directive. She also provides consulting services in the field of environment and occupational health & safety for national and international associations. Sonja works as an international expert for the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in the fields of cleaner production, responsible production (accident prevention), eco-innovation and technology transfer. She gives advice to governments and industry related to technical and economic assessments of technologies and chemicals used. She regularly delivers training on the sound management of chemicals, the specific areas of eco-innovation, accident prevention, occupational health & safety. Sonja holds a degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Applied Sciences, Munich and a Euro-National Certificate for Engineers and Technologists (ENC) from the University of Pontificia Comillas, Madrid.
