“I am passionate about the need for engineers to be adaptable and in collaboration with the client and the design/construction teams to create elegant, efficient and thoughtful buildings which limit our impact on resources.”

Simona joined Ramboll as a graduate engineer in 2000, progressing to Director in June 2019. She is the Higher Education Sector Lead for Ramboll UK.

Simona is a Building Structures Director in the Manchester office and has over 19 years’ experience ranging from education and health through to commercial and residential, with several award winning projects.

Simona is passionate about inspiring and supporting the next generation of engineers to reach their full potential and for the last 7 years she has been a visiting lecturer and collaborated with the Universities of Sheffield, Salford and Manchester. Simona is part of the WISE NW Hub Steering Group.

She has successfully delivered a significant no of multi-disciplinary projects by developing a clear project brief through a deep understanding of the Client’s objectives, thoroughly testing it by challenging the norm, then ensuring that the design responds to the brief, is buildable and enhances the overall building usability.

She believes the best outcomes are achieved when challenged and the winner is always the project, which is why she champions open and collaborative dialogue.

Simona's experience, coupled with her keen interest in architecture, new sustainable materials and her PhD research, gives her a wealth of knowledge to draw upon in mitigating risks on projects, producing creative structural solutions and delivering excellent value.

She is renowned for her pro-active approach in the project process, combining her technical knowledge with an inquisitiveness & respect for the work of other disciplines and a passion for delivering successful projects as well as excellent value for the client.
