ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENTIST/ENGINEER

Ramboll is seeking an experienced environmental scientist/engineer to join our well-established contaminated land management team. We offer the opportunity to work on some of the most complex and interesting contaminated sites in Australia and internationally, in an inclusive and high-performing environment.

The role will be based from our Hunter (Newcastle) office. 

About you

As part of Ramboll you will work with a group of experienced consultants in our Environment and Health team in Newcastle. You will receive on-the-job training with mentoring from senior staff and enjoy opportunities for accelerated career development.

You will have:

  • experience as a contaminated land consultant across a broad range of field and reporting tasks
  • a science or engineering degree in a related discipline
  • a full drivers’ licence
  • a strong focus on the safety of yourself and others
  • excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • experience with field work and sampling
  • a willingness to work from both the office (with working from home flexibility) and in the field, with regular travel to remote locations
  • a drive to deliver pragmatic and sustainable solutions to our valued client’s complex contaminated land issues
  • a collaborative and inclusive attitude and a high level of emotional intelligence.

About the job

Responsibilities for the role include but are not limited to:

  • working on all stages of the asset/project life cycle including site history investigations, baseline reporting, site contamination assessments, remediation and reporting, field sampling and monitoring programs, decommissioning and closure plans
  • data assessment, desk-top research, report preparation and writing
  • work with principal team members to identify and manage project risks
  • work autonomously and as part of the project team to adapt and solve potential problems as needed to optimise delivery
  • work with public and private sector clients to tailor projects to meet their specific requirements
  • work in different sectors including linear infrastructure, energy, industrial and manufacturing, utilities and resources
  • management of your tasks and (where relevant) projects
  • management of subcontractors
  • liaison with stakeholders such as regulators
  • supervise the work of junior staff
