Valley of the Winds, Australia

Living testament of the intricate relationships between diverse ecosystems and landscapes.

Located within the Central West Orana Renewable Energy Zone, the Valley of the Winds (VoW) project involves the construction, operation and decommissioning of a wind farm comprising approximately up to 148 wind turbines and supporting infrastructure including a high voltage transmission line. The farm was legislated by the NSW Government to help meet its objective to achieve net zero emissions by 2050 by supplying over 800 megawatts of electricity into the National Electricity Market.

Ramboll assisted the client in creating the VoW’s Environmental Impact Statement. This included spatial data management and analysis, project refinements based on spatial data, property ownership register and spatial dataset as well as web mapping for internal project team, map figures for EIS report and discussion, and community consultation story map.

Through our spatial services, data management on VoW has considerably improved with better monitoring and version control, and information readily available for sharing and use. Associated spatial data was also utilised to highlight specific impacts to the project which contributed to more informed decision-making and planning.
