A campus that sits strategically in the milieu of a secondary forest, a waterway park, and a preserved island, is designed to benefit, and contribute to the flow of the green movement across the campus.

The SIT campus – strategically positioned within the trifecta of secondary forest, waterway park and preserved island – is designed to benefit from and contribute to the flow of green movement. Ramboll’s extensive water-sensitive urban design strategies were applied to enhance that flow with existing topography proposed as undisturbed land. Open spaces with new facilities are then developed to optimise land use, student experience and maximise contact with nature.

Building on the masterplan, Ramboll and the design team helped strategise a walking and cycling campus environment, minimising any view or interaction with vehicles while still maintaining service and operational requirements. A key element of SIT’s planning involved the integration and seamless connectivity with the adjacent Punggol Digital District (PDD) development, linking SIT closely with the MRT and bus interchanges. Shared parking between the SIT and PDD facilities – a first for Singapore – serves to balance of supply and demand across the district while reducing overall parking requirements.
