Lily Phillips
My name is Lily Phillips and I joined Ramboll in August 2023 as an Engineer Technician Apprentice in the Building Civils team.
After studying an online A level, I decided to choose an apprenticeship as I thrive most in a hybrid environment of practice and theory, which is exactly what this route offers. It also opens a direct pathway into Degree apprenticeships, with the opportunity to obtain a full bachelor’s degree, which I am very interested in completing.
Ramboll is supporting my career journey by offering me lots of professional opportunities in addition to my everyday role, where I feel that I am also supported by colleagues from different disciplines. Besides my role as a Technician, I am also given design related responsibilities and training on small and large projects, which I am trusted to complete independently.

My name is Jo. After 12 years as a stay-at-home mum I joined Ramboll as a Digital Engineering Technician Apprentice.
General assumptions tend to be that apprenticeship are only open to school leavers or those under 25, but that’s not the case. There is no age limit for apprenticeship, so long as you have clear goals in what to achieve. As a mature apprentice, my determination and dedication are unwavering.
The most appealing for me about Ramboll is the people. What I have found is that the company culture promotes strong collaboration and a welcoming environment, where you will always be treated like family. Regardless of seniority, all colleagues are equally supportive, and help is always available. An example is the continuous support I received from our senior management team who effortlessly provide me opportunities for development and learning.
As a parent, Ramboll’s work-life balance approach has given me sufficient flexibility to look after my family, whilst pursuing my new career.
