20 Minute Neighbourhoods for Scotland
Ramboll is delighted to be working with ClimateXChange, on behalf of the Scottish Government, to review the evidence of how to realise the concept of 20-minute neighbourhoods in Scotland.
The Programme for Government 2020 commits the Scottish Government to working with local government and other partners to take forward ambitions for 20-minute neighbourhoods where people can live, work and learn in communities close to home. The research will be used in support of Scotland’s response to the climate emergency and in particular policies under the Scottish Government’s recently published update to its Climate Change Plan and as part of the Programme for Government.
“As a global company with its roots in the planning and design of Nordic cities, especially recognizable for their compact, walkable, and safe plan, many of our experts were born, raised, educated, and worked their careers in the 20-minute neighbourhood context. Knowledge sharing and learning from best practice is a key component in our collaboration across geographies. Through our partnerships with clients and teams across the world, we have insights, best practices and processes that we believe can strengthen communities. These insights are scalable, and can be applied through all planning and design phases. This unparalleled expertise of planning and integrating the critical elements that make a 20-minute neighbourhood or city will help identify the criteria most relevant to the Scottish context.
We are delighted to have been selected for this work and look forward to sharing the outcomes as we move the discussion on 20-minute neighbourhood in Scotland forward”.
