Our environmental, social, and governance commitments

In line with our values, we have set ambitious targets to curb Ramboll’s carbon footprint, while improving impacts on our value chain and the environment. Explore our main environmental, social and governance (ESG) actions and commitments.

As the Partner for Sustainable Change, Ramboll is committed to acting responsibly toward clients, employees, society, and our company. This commitment is reflected in our ambitious targets to reduce carbon emissions in line with the Paris Agreement.

Today, we work toward a series of climate targets officially approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) as being in line with the 1.5°C pathway. For example, we have committed to achieving net-zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across our value chain by 2040. This means reducing absolute scope 1, 2, and scope 3 GHG emissions – from purchased goods and services, fuel- and energy-related activities, business travel, employee commuting, and use of sold products – 90% by 2040 from a 2019 base year. The remaining 10% will be neutralised in line with SBTi criteria.

Our climate ambitions are not only our own; they are also reflected in how we work with clients, partners, and stakeholders. In all projects, we offer alternative solutions that are more sustainable. Furthermore, in line with our ambition to become the global leader in the green energy transition, Ramboll will exit oil and gas exploration before the end of 2025, redeploying this expertise into renewables. We continue to accelerate the green transition through partnerships, in line with the ambition of our 2022-2025 strategy: The Partner for Sustainable Change.

Ramboll’s Climate Commitments in the UK

:

Climate action is at the heart of what we do, from meaningfully reducing emissions from our own operations, to increasing investment into solutions that drive climate resilient outcomes for our clients, through to helping our employees lead sustainable lifestyles.

The one of a kind new Northzealand hospital in Hillerød, Denmark seeks to reinvent hospital designs for the future. the design focuses on patient wellbeing to aid quicker recovery, with a structure that maximises interaction with nature and innovative services such as circadian lighting that plays an important part in human health and wellbeing. The hospital also aims to be the most digitally enabled project in Denmark with automated systems to maximise hospital efficiency so healthcare workers have more time to spend with patients and are highly sustainable with its low-energy design. Using viewing software, a digital twin of the building has been created, enabling the client to virtually walk around the building and its departments. It is an exemplary project that is already winning awards.
