Sophie Roberts

My name is Sophie Roberts, I joined Ramboll in September 2023 as an Environmental Science Practitioner Apprentice. I’ve worked on many different projects since joining and attended site walkovers and visits involving groundwater monitoring. Since starting my work has consisted of desk study reports, report amendments and write ups, borehole logs, data transferring, choosing soil sampling locations and a variety other project work.

I chose an apprenticeship to start my career in the environmental industry because I felt it would be the best way to gain knowledge, skills and experience all at once. The apprenticeship has been great for my personal and career development. I can apply the knowledge I gain from my degree straight into practice, which helps me understand the work and further develop my skills.

I have received so much support from my colleagues, they understand that due to not having my qualifications yet, I sometimes take slightly longer, and I will often have questions, but everyone is always willing to help and give great advice. I love that people want to get me involved by including me on site visits and project meetings etc, which is great for my development.
