COO Søren Holm Johansen retires from Ramboll Group

Group Chief Operating Officer Søren Holm Johansen has decided to retire and will step down from the Executive Board on 1 April, 2021.

“We have come to the final year of our Winning Together strategy. A new Group strategy is in the making, we have very strong internal successors lined up and I believe this is the right time to hand over to a successor to be part of the next strategy period from the outset. I have had a fantastic journey together with Ramboll and I am very proud of what we have achieved over the years”, says Søren Holm Johansen.
For three decades Søren has been at the helm of the company development and has been instrumental in many of the strategic moves that have fueled Ramboll’s growth towards becoming a large international engineering, architecture and consultancy company.
“With Søren Holm Johansen’s retirement one of the central representatives of Ramboll’s legacy and a very strong leader is stepping down from the executive board. Søren has contributed enormously to our past and future success both driving internationalisation of our geographical footprint and the globalisation of our organisation and offering. We will miss Søren’s impressive drive, his insight and not least his unwavering commitment to Ramboll and all the company stands for. I want to warmly thank Søren for all he has achieved, and I wish him the very best for the next exciting chapter in his life.”, says Group CEO Jens-Peter Saul.
Søren Holm Johansen joined Ramboll 1989 as an energy advisor. He was appointed member of the executive board in 2000 and in 2002 he was an instrumental party in driving the acquisition of Scandiaconsult which accelerated Ramboll’s growth journey for the following decades. In the late 90s he led the establishment of Ramboll's first overseas joint venture in India together with Larsen & Toubro Ltd. Today, Ramboll has 1300 employees in India and Søren Holm Johansen is the chairman of the India Danish Chamber of Commerce.
From 2003-2008 he was Managing Director in Ramboll Denmark and in 2008 he joined the Group Executive Board where he was tasked to implement and drive a global market organisation across Ramboll’s geographical strongholds. Recently he has headed the acquisition of Henning Larsen Architects and Web-structures in Singapore and the subsequent formation of a new global business unit for Architecture, Landscape and Urbanism. Among many achievements Søren Holm Johansen has successfully led Ramboll's strategy as Sustainability Society Consultants which will leave a mark for years to come.
In the broader consulting engineering industry Søren Holm Johansen has both served as chairman of the Federation of Danish Consulting Engineers (FRI) as well as the chairman of the Professional Service Industry in Denmark. For five years he also served as member of the central board of Confederation of Danish Industry (DI).
Søren Holm Johansen will step down as COO on 1 April 2021. His successor on the Group Executive Board will be announced shortly.
