New Managing Directors for Transport and Buildings

Richard Beard comes from a position in Ramboll as Managing Director for Buildings and Søren Brøndum moves up from a role as Country Market Director for Buildings in Denmark:

With his in-depth knowledge about the infrastructure area Richard is the right person to ensure that Ramboll is well positioned to benefit from the growth in the Transport market. In his previous role, Søren navigated Buildings in Denmark with a steady hand through the first year of the pandemic and has built a profitable and specialized business unit with 1000 employees in Denmark. I have no doubt that they are the right leaders to deliver on our internationalization ambitions”, says Group CEO Jens-Peter Saul.

Growth in the global transport market stagnated because of Covid-19 and the economic slowdown that followed. In 2021 and forward a strong growth is expected driven mainly by the economic recovery packages that will inject larges sum into transport projects across the globe.

“I look forward to lead Transport in Ramboll. We see huge opportunities for low carbon transport systems such as electric vehicles, metro, and rail systems. Our smart mobility offering is more relevant than ever and there is a need to decarbonise core infrastructure assets such as bridges and tunnels”, says Richard Beard.

Ramboll’s global Transport division has more than 3,500 employees and a revenue of DKK 2.9 billion. It’s ranked twelfth amongst global transport designers by Engineering News Record (ENR). In addition to his new responsibility for Transport Richard will continue his current role as Managing Director for Middle East and Asia Pacific.

The real-estate and construction industry have been heavily impacted by the pandemic and the effects could be long lasting with some market analyst forecasting a decrease in office space of up to 30%. However, it has been a mixed picture across markets and sectors and overall, the industry has proved to be quite resilient. A strong recovery is expected in many sectors and some trends have accelerated especially the possibilities for remote collaboration through tools as building-information modeling (BIM) etc.

“Under Covid-19 we have seen that digitalisation has enabled Ramboll to deliver projects seamlessly across borders. I look forward to pushing global collaboration across Ramboll Buildings even further and develop our specialized services within for example hospitals and high-rises”, says Søren Brøndum.

Ramboll’s global Buildings division has more than 4,400 employees and a revenue of DKK 3.9 billion. Ramboll is ranked seventh amongst global buildings designers by Engineering News Record (ENR).
