Gitte Gylling Olesen has received the prize for her role as a project manager on the construction of the Middelfart City Hall. The City Hall has been certified with the highest DGNB Platin & Diamond certification for sustainability in Denmark. She excelled in the project by managing a design process involving close collaboration between engineers, architects, and developers. The jury recognised Gitte's enthusiastic driving force on the project as demonstrated by her strong communication and understanding the needs of the various stakeholders as well as managing a project where environmental, social, economic, technical and processual sustainability qualities were jointly developed.

“Gitte is one of Ramboll's foremost specialists within sustainability. A professional lighthouse. She has the rare ability to work across disciplines and has been a key figure in the making and in the implementation of Ramboll's sustainability strategy. With Gitte's technical and interpersonal skills along with her personality, I expect she will have a promising future within the consultancy industry. As consultants with a global presence, we have the obligation to influence the development of our society in a sustainable direction whilst still having a commercial growth ambition,” says Ib Enevoldsen, Managing Director, Ramboll Denmark.

“For me personally, this is great recognition and I am both happy and extremely honoured. But I believe it is just as much as an acknowledgement of our young and dedicated team, where we all have a great passion for sustainability. At the same time, I am positively surprised that the prize was awarded to a project where sustainability is the main element. It gives me hope that we in the building sector can change the way we build, so we can create buildings that we are proud of and that we hand over to the coming generations,” says Gitte Gylling Olesen, who works as a chief consultant in the building division at Ramboll's office in Aarhus.

Engineers from the whole of Europe nominated

The different local associations for Engineering Consultancies in Europe have nominated 22 candidates that have achieved top rankings in the national competitions. Gitte Gylling Olesen was among four of the runners-up in the Danish competition organised by the Danish Association of Consulting Engineers, FRI.

Gitte was awarded the prize at EFCA's annual meeting, which this year took place in Dublin from 9 - 11 May.
