Ramboll to evaluate environmental and social impacts of mining slurry leaks in Brazil

Over a six-month period, Ramboll will conduct an independent audit to evaluate the environmental and social impacts of two spills from Anglo American’s Minas-Rio slurry in Santo Antônio do Grama, in the Zona da Mata mining area. Our experts will also recommend measures to restore and protect human health and to prevent further environmental degradation.

Eugenio Singer, Ramboll’s Managing Principal for Environment & Health in Brazil, attributes the win in large part to Ramboll’s ongoing high-profile work on the Rio Doce Basin project for Samarco. This multimillion dollar project extends through 2020, and is one of the company’s largest-ever engagements.

“Our role on the Rio Doce Basin project has created enormous trust with key stakeholders in Brazil," Mr. Singer says. “Ramboll is becoming recognised as the consulting and engineering company best positioned and qualified for disaster assessment and restoration."
