Although in-person site visits are often desirable, Ramboll has developed a variety of technologies that allow us to collaborate remotely, which is the next best thing to being onsite.

Remote site visits are sometimes the only way for projects to continue, be they necessary for health and safety reasons, to safely circumvent restrictions such as the recent COVID-19 global situation, or the site may simply be too remote, the expert too far away or the need too urgent to wait. Our solutions enable remotely based experts to collaborate with international client teams in real-time, wherever in the world they may be, and have the additional benefit of reducing the carbon footprint of the project.

Ramboll offers a range of solutions including real-time collaboration, live video markup, team interaction with 3D digital designs and augmented reality, with options for sites with no or limited connectivity.

Ramboll’s alternatives to in-person inspection include:

• The HoloLens2 augmented reality headset, which enables the site representative and Ramboll specialist to share documents and designs in real-time.
• Real-time video with RSR software, which enhances the real-time inspection using a provided tablet with augmented reality to improve communication.
• 360-degree helmet-mounted camera that collects high-definition video, which is especially useful for larger or more complex sites where mobile data or WiFi coverage are unreliable or non-existent.
• Other satellite or unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) – or drones – options where exterior site condition monitoring is enough.
