The planning and conceptual design comprised the planned stage called “West option”, including a new approx. 650 m. long “deep water quay” and approx. 32 hectares of storage area in the hinterland.
The new deep water berth has been designed to meet the requirements set by Maersk Line vessels in a size of 18.000 TEU (“Triple E” vessels).
Ramboll prepared berth layouts including configuration of fenders and bollards, and conceptual design of the quay structure. Three different solutions were considered:
An open piled quay, a closed quay wall with a relieving platform, or a closed quay wall.
Services provided were, geotechnical assessments, conceptual layout of 650 m long deep water berth, conceptual design of three types of quay structures, conceptual design of dredging works, conceptual layout of container yard and pavement design
