The Bogibeel rail/road bridge is currently under construction across the river Brahmaputra in Dibrugarh district, in the state of Assam in northeast of India. The just above 5km bridge is one of the longest river bridges in the country. The span configuration of the bridge includes; 40 spans of 125m and two end-span of 33 m. The lower deck of the bridge comprises of a twin railway track, and the upper deck provides three-lane for vehicle traffic use.
The traditional design is to use conventional bolted steel trusses with road deck supported at the intermediate height. Ramboll has undertaken the detailed design of the superstructure and provided the technical support/guidance to bridge contractors during pre/post fabrication and launching.
Ramboll has provided Northeast Front Railway with an integrated system to plan, control and monitor the maintenance, inspection operation and asset management of the bridge once it is delivered.
For the Asset Management assignment Ramboll will deliver Ramboll will deliver a, tailor-made package consisting of:
- Operation and Maintenance Manual Comprehensive report specifying inspection and maintenance instructions
- SMART Asset Management System a web based asset management system designed for the activity management of infrastructure
- Digitised Asset Monitoring and Control Management software A fully automated and digitised system to monitor and control the structural behaviour of the bridge
- Training Tailor-made technical supporting courses for maintenance/operation team.
The four core elements will contribute to ensure that the safety of the bridge, increase the lifespan of the structure and a reduction of lifecycle costs.
