Ramboll is currently taking part in a project where the Copenhagen City Council has decided that all administrations are to be environmentally certified by the end of 2008.
Environmental certification
The Copenhagen City administration for construction and environment had gone through a major organisational restructuring process, which resulted in the establishment of a series of new centres and one shared secretariat. Consequently, the construction and environment administration decided to introduce a joint environmental management system to be certified according to ISO 14001, where all administrations are to be environmentally certified by the end of 2008.
The purpose of the project
The main purpose of this project is to propose a new and user-friendly joint environmental management system for the entire construction and environmental administration, including proposals for future organisation of the environmental management system, proposal for the handbook structure and a plan for further actions to be taken by the administration, in order for them to have a certified system ready by the end of 2008.
The development of the system
Based on several interviews with key personnel, workshops and studies of existing environmental management systems, Ramboll has prepared a proposal on how to create, design and implement a new joint environmental management system for the new administration for construction and environment. Ramboll was assigned to carry out the project because of our prior experience with other environmental management projects for the Copenhagen City administration.
The project has been extended afterwards to include an up-date of the administration’s environmental mapping and to make a proposal for future environmental efforts to be made.
