Ramboll has designed a comprehensive BIM specification template around Ørsted’s business needs. The tailormade template ensures consistent and aligned digital deliveries.
The company specific BIM template outlines directions for advanced 3D modelling, also known as BIM, Building information Modelling. The template is designed to assist Ørsted in terms of making BIM specifications for substations onshore.
BIM process consistency
As a global leader within green energy, Ørsted works on wind turbine projects all over the world. For these projects, Ørsted employs external engineering consultants to do the design. A BIM specification is included in the agreement with the engineering consultants.
However, due to a lack of predefined BIM templates, Ørsted experienced a pressing need for novel optimisation to overcome inefficient processes. Therefore, to derive maximum advantage from BIM modelling, Ørsted found it necessary to have a clearly defined agreement that streamlines the consultant’s digital deliveries.By means of standardised BIM agreements, Ørsted may use 3D models during the entire project phase, including operations and maintenance as well as in connection with reconstruction. This creates an operational advantage as BIM process consistency improves the performance of BIM adoption and implementation.
BIM specification template
For this project, Ramboll’s services include a BIM specification template for engineering consultancy and BIM requirements aimed at suppliers of equipment. The template is critical in ensuring consistency and standardisation, leading to increased efficiency and decreased costs.More specifically, the BIM specification template outlines requirements for business partners and external consultants in terms of 3D-projection and other digital demands. Furthermore, the template outlines requirements for both digital deliveries and recommendations for best practice in terms of using BIM tools.
