EU Taxonomy screening for global client

EU Taxonomy screening for an international conglomerate. Based on a thorough process, Ramboll was able to disclose the client’s alignment with the EU taxonomy and offer a set of recommendations on how to ease future reporting and improve alignment score.

Ramboll Management Consulting conducting a project for an international building conglomerate with a revenue of more than €750 million operating within commissioning and driving large construction projects as well as a large property portfolio.

In this project we assessed whether and to what extent the activities of each its multiple companies and subsidiaries within the conglomerate align with the EU Taxonomy.

The EU Taxonomy entails new requirements for compliance, as the Taxonomy Regulation obliges the client to disclose on the sustainability of its economic activities, of which it has many. In the longer run, the client also recognises that the EU Taxonomy can be a lever for improving the sustainability of its business and enhancing its reputation.

A thorough process and an excess of financial data

Specifically, we conduct the technical screening and financial allocation concurrently for each of the companies and subsidiaries of the conglomerate. Each separate process follows the same steps but are conducted for each individual company, as thorough insight into the individual business models is required to complete the technical screening.

As part of the technical screening, we help map the client’s activities to the economic activities of the EU Taxonomy. Once we have a clear picture of the client’s Taxonomy-eligible activities, the next step is then to screen each activity to assess whether they align with their respective technical screening criteria. Here, we develop a technical data template that is specifically tailored to the client’s operations and takes into

consideration how the technical screening criteria translates into national legislation to make it transparent and accessible for the client to collect the necessary technical data.

Once we have identified the eligible activities that also align with the EU Taxonomy, we then calculate the client’s final alignment by allocating the financial KPIs, CAPEX, OPEX and turnover, to each of the client’s economic activities for 2022.

Once we have identified the eligible activities that also align with the EU Taxonomy, we then calculate the client’s final alignment by allocating the financial KPIs, CAPEX, OPEX and turnover, to each of the client’s economic activities allowing for full disclosure the client’s alignment with the EU taxonomy.
