Nimit Langsuan: A landmark 200-meter sustainable high-rise
Ramboll provided comprehensive multidisciplinary engineering services, guiding Nimit Langsuan from concept to detailed design. Completed in 2024, this prestigious 200-meter high-rise is a landmark residential building is near Lumpini Park in Bangkok, Thailand.
Challenge
The project’s complexity was amplified by its location in Bangkok’s historic center, requiring careful integration with local standards and practices. Additionally, the design had to address high solar gains while maximizing natural daylight, all within the context of the region’s high temperatures and humidity.
Our Solution
Ramboll collaborated closely with a local design team to develop a solution that exceeded the client’s expectations. Key aspects of our solution included:
Optimized façade design: Achieving a balance between solar gain reduction and natural daylight to enhance energy efficiency.
Hybrid cooling system: Implementing a chilled water and refrigerant cooling solution that eliminates the need for external condensers on balconies – an innovation approach for Thailand.
Innovative greenhouse entrance: Designing a unique entrance featuring a greenhouse that incorporates both native and non-native plants, serving as a thermal buffer and a year-round recreational space for residents.
Key Outcomes
Sustainable design: Reductions in energy consumption through advanced façade and cooling solutions.
Enhanced living environment: The greenhouse entrance improves air quality and moderate temperatures, creating a more comfortable living space.
Integration with local standards: Successful collaboration with local teams ensured compliance with Thai regulations and practices, facilitating a seamless design process.
