Gothenburg has launched an ambitious project to map the flood risk in and around the city. Ramboll assisted with the advanced setup of hydraulic models.
The city decided that a Hydro model should be created, to map the flood risk along the complex network of smaller streams that flows out into the big river, called Göta River. A Cost-Benefit Analysis was performed in order to find the best preventive measure from a social economical perspective.
The Cost-Benefit Analysis was based on the risk mapping, which was performed using the result of the flood mapping of the two preventive measures. The Cost-Benefit Analysis forms the basis for the political decision of choosing a preventive measure for the city.
Ramboll won the project to create the Hydro model due to our hydraulic expertise. The model consists of a 3-way coupled model between MIKE Urban, MIKE 11 and MIKE 21.
