The potential environmental impact of the Aberdeen Gateway business park development, located just south of the city, was a critical enough issue to have affected the granting of planning permission.
We undertook a thorough environmental impact assessment of the proposed scheme. Our assessment showed that the transportation of materials to and from the site would have a major impact, with vehicle emissions, traffic volumes on local roads and noise all causing concern.
Accordingly, we made recommendations for a transportation strategy for on-site materials management. Our consultants demonstrated that the strategy would reduce carbon emissions associated with bringing fill material to the site from 4 tonnes to 3.1 tonnes.
