We partner with clients to co-create solutions that balance society’s need for social, environmental and economic development.
Our world leading experts in engineering and consultancy create sustainable solutions across Buildings; Transport; Water; Environment & Health; Planning & Urbanism; Energy and Management Consulting. Our unique combination of technical excellence and socio-economic insights help clients deliver enduring structures, sustainable resource efficient solutions and socially cohesive communities.
Our work within the public sector
Ramboll has long and successful partnerships with many clients in the public sector, not least NERC, who appointed Ramboll as Technical Advisors for 10 years to British Antarctic Survey for the Antarctic Infrastructure Modernisation programme, National Highways supporting them on their sustainability and environmental performance improvement, British Geological Survey’s UK Geo Observatories project, long standing work with the FCO with the Defence Infrastructure Organisation, BEIS as delivery partners working with Gemserve for the UK Government’s £4M Heat Networks Efficiency Scheme Demonstrator and local authorities across the country to deliver their net zero ambitions and sustainable outcomes for their residents. For example our research and study on 20-minute neighbourhoods is helping guide local authorities on spatial planning that can contribute to building climate resilient net zero communities.
Supporting the delivery of net zero ambitions
We know that many public sector organisations are at different stages of their net zero, climate resilient journey, and appreciate that the solutions are typically complex. Ramboll supports clients in navigating through the challenges and opportunities together to successfully deliver solutions best suited to the local needs.
Our integrated teams of scientists, economists, engineers and digital experts bring a multitude of expertise and experience to support our clients in delivering on the climate imperative, in a way that delivers the most value and long-term performance.
Pioneers and award-winning leaders in Modern Methods of Construction
As a society we need to be able to construct high quality buildings and infrastructure quicker, safer and with less impact on the surrounding environment. Modern methods of construction fulfill many of these criteria: increasing safety, reducing cost, accelerating build time and improving quality control and sustainability. Typically modular designed buildings take 10% less time to erect than those constructed using conventional techniques and our technical sprints can be used to assess options fast.
Ramboll was an early adopter of modern methods of construction, embracing the approach over 20 years ago and have since led the field. Our experts work in partnership with academia and industry, pioneering and pushing the boundaries to deliver the advanced solutions available today.
Delivering social value for sustainable societies and liveability
Our teams work with public sector clients from the outset to explore how projects can deliver social value at every stage of the project and ensure enduring outcomes for societies that create strong and resilient communities.
The services and facilities that are needed will be unique to each location and this is where community participation and engagement is key to successful delivery. Co-creation through land use planning, participatory budgeting and conversations structured around the Construction Playbook can ensure community buy in and the success of making places where people can thrive.
Andrew Henderson, Country Market Director for Ramboll Buildings, said: "Being awarded these lots is great news and demonstrates Ramboll’s strength and growth within the UK and a recognition of our multi-disciplinary skills and expertise. We have been a supplier to other organisations on previous versions of this framework and have helped to deliver some amazing projects. We are excited to now lead from the front, bringing our full capacity, knowledge and experience to drive the achievement of net zero by 2050, embedding social value and contributing to the government’s goal to build back better, greener and faster.
Steve Forder, Ramboll CPS Framework Manager, said: “The Ramboll team and our partners are ready and able to support the public sector to achieve the challenges outlined in the Construction Playbook. Our teams are committed to delivering value for money for the taxpayer by collaborating and focussing on continuous improvement to deliver project excellence”.
