“The severe winter climatic conditions on the site were particularly challenging for the infrastructure elements. Conditions such as the ground being frozen for up to 1 meter required innovative and exacting solutions to cope with such a harsh climate.” Peter Chaplin, Principle Specialist, Environment & Infrastructure Engineering
In addition to frozen ground during the winter, our engineers also needed to tackle a very high water table, significant snow melt and extreme winter temperatures. Our engineers designed specific solutions to overcome such challenges such as the use of retention ponds to accommodate the snow melt which removed the requirement for buried tanks within the difficult soil conditions and high water table.
All the required infrastructure and utility system elements were designed in accordance with the SNIP codes, Russia’s construction regulations and codes and we formed a close working relationship with the Local Authority in order to obtain the approvals for discharging into the local waterways.
