A487 Bangor to Fishguard Trunk Road Improvement at Glandyfi

Glandyfi Junction on the A487 coastal trunk road runs through one of Wales’ most scenic areas, but its narrow bends made it a notorious bottleneck and accident blackspot. This improvement scheme involved widening and straightening a 1.3km stretch of the road beside the Afon Dyfi estuary, close to the Snowdonia National Park.

Single living accommodation, Devil's Tower Camp

Devil’s Tower Camp is a British military base on Gibraltar’s east coast. It is home to various armed forces including the Royal Gibraltar Regiment. The site’s refurbishment included improvements to site’s transit, permanent and welfare facilities for 450 serving personnel.

RNLI Baltimore upgrade

Baltimore Lifeboat Station, on the south west tip of Ireland, has been extended and remodelled to accommodate the needs of crews for the inshore and all-weather lifeboats. Facilities have been improved further by creating an adjacent pontoon berth. Our team provided geotechnical, marine, structural and building services engineering and project management.The station building (c.1913) is an early example of reinforced concrete construction and has been refurbished and enlarged by the addition of a new steel frame extension, roofed with slate to match the existing. The station’s slipway has been modified so that RNLI Baltimore’s Atlantic 75B class inshore lifeboat Bessie can be launched directly from the boathouse. Tynemouth Railway Station

Grade II* listed Tynemouth Railway Station has undergone extensive refurbishment to preserve its elegant canopy roof and enable its redevelopment as a community venue.

Implementing improved cargo handling facilities in IWT terminals in Bangladesh

The overall goal of the project was planning and construction of two new IWT cargo terminals. Ramboll in association with partners in Bangladesh, have performed a feasibility study and detailed design of 2 new IWT cargo terminals in Pangaon and Ashuganj. In both locations new berthing facilities and improved cargo handling facilities will be implemented. 

E18 Grimstad - Kristiansand, European Highway

Ramboll was engaged as the main consultant on the stretch of the new E18 motorway between Grimstad and Kristiansand. The new motorway will significantly improve the Norwegian infrastructure and will improve living conditions for local communities living along the existing road.

M25 Cobham Motorway Service Area

Ramboll was lead engineer for Cobham Motorway Service Area, a 20ha development on an environmentally sensitive greenfield site.

Tunnel under Marselis Boulevard

The project consists of a 1.8 kilometre cut and cover tunnel, consisting of mechanical and electrical  installations, several road and railway bridges (including railway bridges at Langenæs, Åhavevej and Viby Ringgade), and all temporary structures.

The Mersey Gateway

It is a new six-lane cable-stayed tolled bridge across the Mersey Estuary between Runcorn and Widnes. The central feature of the significant highway improvements between the M56 and Speke Road. 

The Øresund Link

The Øresund Link connects the Danish capital Copenhagen with the city of Malmö in southern Sweden by a four lane motorway and a two track electrified railway for high speed (200 km/h) passenger services as well as freight trains.

Fehmarnbelt between Denmark and Germany

In the future Scandinavia and the rest of Europe will be connected by the world's longest road and rail tunnel.

Nordhavnsvej – the largest road construction project in Copenhagen in 50 years

The project for “Nordhavnsvej” is the first stage of a new road to Copenhagen’s Nordhavn (North Harbour). When fully developed, the urban area is planned for 40,000 residents and 40,000 workplaces.
