The Yellow Line will relieve the pressure on other lines in Stockholm
The construction of the Yellow Line is part of the national plan for the development of transport infrastructure and is funded by the government and municipalities in the Stockholm region.
The project, which involves an extension of the metro network, will benefit from the combined expertise and experience of Ramboll and TYPSA in stations, TBM (Tunnel Boring Machine) techniques, underground structures and MEP (Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing) installations.
"We are delighted to contribute our local and global expertise to the expansion of the Stockholm metro system. The Yellow Line is a major boost for sustainable travel and will also pave the way for significant residential development in the area in the coming years. Based on our client's vision and goals, we look forward to driving and completing this project in collaboration with the client," says Anette Seger, Managing Director of Ramboll Sweden.
Ramboll and TYPSA JV are equal partners in the consortium and each company has previously provided services and technical expertise to the Stockholm region to support the expansion of the Blue, Green, Red and future Yellow metro lines.
"We are proud to be entrusted with continuing to contribute to the sustainable growth and development of Stockholm by increasing the capacity of public transport. We bring our solid experience in metro and a team of internationally recognised TBM experts who will provide solutions and guidance to support Region Stockholm in the successful implementation of the Yellow Line," says Fredrik Lilliesköld, Country Director for TYPSA in Sweden.
The new metro line will have six stations and run from Fridhemsplan to Älvsjö. The route runs through bedrock and under an inlet to Lake Mälaren. Work on the two contracts will start in autumn 2024 and continue until the completion of the Yellow Line.
