Ramboll to help plan for the E16 road in Norway
Together with Asplan Viak, Ramboll will help the public construction organisation Nye Veier with work on the new E16 road in Norway.
Ramboll has been selected to help with the planning for the E16 road in Norway – a 60 km stretch running from Kløfta to Kongvinger Northeast of Oslo. The road provides an important link between housing and labour markets in one of the fastest growing regions in the country.
The project win is a result of good collaboration between Ramboll and Asplan Viak, who Ramboll has worked with before:
“We have worked with Asplan Viak on a similar project, for the E18 road, also for Nye Veier. I’m convinced that it is our shared expertise and previous experience that secured us the win,” says Head of Division within Transport in Norway, Eva Vefald Bergsodden.
The project covers preparations for a planning program and a municipal subdivision program, including impact assessment and all associated and subsequent work for the E16 road.
It is an intermunicipal plan that involves collaboration between the four municipalities that the road will run through.
“A challenge for the project is to ensure involvement of all parties and a good process while still ensuring efficiency. Due to the current situation relating to the Coronavirus, this is even more complex, but all interested parties will be involved digitally,” Eva Vefald Bergsodden explains.
Furthermore, the significant parts of the project area are characterised by poor ground conditions, which makes it necessary to carry out geological investigations.
Due to the complexity of the projects, it’s will very much be a multidisciplinary effort, involving colleagues from both Ramboll’s Transport, Environment & Health, Water and Buildings markets.
The project is due to start in May, after the clarification phase, and will continue until the municipal subdivision plan is approved in July 2021.
