The shores of Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence River have experienced an extended pattern of flooding damage. A programme has been established to address the immediate and long-term resiliency needs of these areas whilst also increasing economic development opportunities and the health of the lake. To support these efforts, the New York State Office of General Services and Department of Environmental Conservation have engaged Ramboll to help develop a new vision for rebuilding and enhancing the Lake Ontario and St. Lawrence River shoreline.
Ramboll has helped the Housing and Development Board in Singapore transforming a compact 2.2 acres site into a dynamic community heart enabling an aging population to live actively.
Ramboll as partners to SLA was assigned to carry out a visionary urban planning and climate adaptation project in Copenhagen. The team won first prize. Their proposal will now be implemented in the Copenhagen neighbourhood Norrebro over the next two-three years.
Ramboll has been assisting the Department of Energy and Environment in assessing the effect of flooding from the large Potomac River, that flows though the city centre, in terms of rising sea level and storm surges, as well as extreme rainfall.
The NYC Cloudburst Resiliency Planning Study & pilot project is a world-class example of an integrated planning & analysis process shaping a solid basis for future decisions on how to implement climate adaptation initiatives fully or partly based on green infrastructure.
