Sound forecasting

Today, splotches of colour on a computer screen may be the visual manifestation of a new kind of virtual soundscapes.

Dubrovnik Airport

Ramboll has been instrumental in the upgrading and expansion of Dubrovnik Airport’s infrastructure. The project will ensure the airport is fit for the future and capable of handling increasing passenger numbers.

Immersive Sound Studio

The Immersive Sound Studio (ISS) is a purpose built facility for auralisation. It helps designers to model the noise and acoustics in spaces before they are built.

Environmental Impact Assessment of near-shore wind farms

Ramboll prepares Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) of three near-shore wind farms in Danish waters for the Danish energy grid owner, Energinet.dk. The project involves preparing Environmental Impact Assessments for both the offshore wind farms as well as the onshore connection to the national grid.

International Quarter London - Plot S6

Situated in the Olympic Park site, as part of the London 2012 games legacy, Transport for London’s (TfL) new headquarter at International Quarter London provides 265,000 sq ft modern, dynamic facilities for around 3,000 TfL staff.

E18 motorway extension from Koskenkylä to Kotka in Finland

Within Finland, Sweden and Norway in particular, Ramboll has been extensively involved in the establishment of the Nordic Triangle transport corridor, part of EU’s TEN-T road network, linking this region closer to the rest of Europe and beyond. As a part of the Nordic Triangle transport corridor, the E18 stretches all the way across southern Finland from Turku via the Helsinki metropolitan area to Vaalimaa at the Russian border providing a fast route to Eastern markets. Leading the consulting consortium in charge of construction design, Ramboll plays a central role in the E18 motorway extension from Koskenkylä to Kotka.

Urban liveability calls for urgent action

Sometimes doing nothing can be the most costly option – both in environmental and financial terms. Representing 3.5 million residents, Jeddah officials have realised that swift action is needed to make the city more liveable in the future. Ramboll established a cost-benefit analysis and crafted a masterplan to ensure future sustainable development for Jeddah.

Crouch Hill Park

Proposals at Crouch Hill Park involved the relocation of Ashmount Primary School, Bowler’s Nursery and the renovation of the community CAPE building. The brief is challenging as the site is Metropolitan Open Land. Sustainability, energy and landscaping have all been integral to design development. Designs are based on a ‘tree house’ concept to connect with the surrounding environment.

Mejlflak Offshore Wind Farm

Ramboll carried out site development for a potential offshore wind farm on Mejlflak in Aarhus Bay, Denmark. Ramboll's contract with Havvind Århus Bugt A/S included geophysical/geotechnical investigations and the entire EIA process including economic assessments.

Jätkäsaari infrastructure and environmental planning

Having served as Helsinki's cargo port for almost 100 years, Jätkäsaari will be transformed into an attractive urban residential area by 2025. The Jätkäsaari construction project consists of various commissions, which Ramboll is planning in connection with numerous client and cooperative partners.

British Geological Survey - UK Geoenergy Observatories

Ramboll has been appointed by NERC (the UK’s main agency for funding environmental sciences) to provide the British Geological Survey (BGS) with multidisciplinary services as they create a new ‘observatory for the underground’. 

Helix-London development

Two elliptical residential towers of different heights sit above a two storey podium in this mixed use development in London's Canary Wharf. One of Europe's largest McDonald's restaurants has been demolished to make way for it.The concrete frame towers, one 28 storeys high and the other 35 storeys, are linked by spaghetti-like steel bridges. Each floor has a wrap-around balcony with views to the nearby marina. The podium below houses shops and a replacement McDonald's on the ground floor; and a children's playground, screened sports pitch and landscaped public space on the first floor.A complex transfer system supporting the two towers has been integrated into the podium. Holmestrand - The world’s first mountain railway station

A new fourteen kilometers double track through the city of Holmestrand will greatly improve the rail services on the Vestfold line. Rambøll is responsible for the design of seven kilometers of the line and Holmestrand Statio

Environmental Impact Assessment of Ellund/Egtved pipeline

Ramboll assisted Energinet.dk in carrying out environmental investigations and an environmental impact assessment (EIA) in relation to the expansion of the capacity of the gas transmission system between Ellund and Egtved in the southern part of Jutland, Denmark.

Upgrading of the Ringsted-Fehmarn Railway Line

As part of the Fehmarn Belt tunnel project, the 110 km railway line between Ringsted and the Fehmarn-link in Rødby will undergo a comprehensive upgrade. The project includes raising the speed limit to 200 km/h and expansion from single to double track between Vordingborg and Rødby. Existing railway stations will be rebuilt and a new station will be built in Holeby. All of this in order to ensure a quick and efficient transportation of cargo and passengers to Germany.

Nordhavnsvej – the largest road construction project in Copenhagen in 50 years

The project for “Nordhavnsvej” is the first stage of a new road to Copenhagen’s Nordhavn (North Harbour). When fully developed, the urban area is planned for 40,000 residents and 40,000 workplaces.
